Covers upgrading your panel to 200 amps and the 240-volt circuit your Level 2 charger needs — up to $4,200 for income-qualified households (under 80% of area median income), or $2,100 in a designated disadvantaged community. SCE sets your final amount.

Two grants, one fits your county
You'd use one or the other, not both. Replace Your Ride covers metro LA, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino; DCAP covers the rest of California, including the Antelope Valley. Call and we'll point you to the right one.
Grants are income-qualified
DCAP and Replace Your Ride are for households at or below 300% of the federal poverty level, so they likely won't fit — but once you buy your EV, the SCE and PG&E charger rebates on this page still can.
Rebates are run by the utilities: you apply and prequalify with them directly, and eligibility and final amounts depend on your household, location and electrical panel. As an approved contractor, Genius Electric helps you apply, then handles the permit, program paperwork and install to standard once you have your Prequalification ID.
Heads up on the federal "$4,000 used-EV" credit: it ended for vehicles purchased after September 30, 2025. If you bought a qualifying used EV on or before that date, you may still be able to claim it on your taxes (IRS Form 8936) — ask a tax professional.
How It Works
A free estimate and a panel check. We confirm your utility — SCE or PG&E — tell you which program fits, and walk you through applying.
You create the account and apply with the utility. SCE issues you a Prequalification ID; PG&E sends a pre-approval. The application stays in your name — we just help you through it.
With your Prequalification ID in hand, we handle the rest: the permit, the program paperwork, and uploading the documents to claim your rebate.
Your Level 2 or Tesla charger goes in to program standards — and on the income-qualified paths, the rebate comes off your upfront cost.

For these programs, yes — the work has to be done by a contractor enrolled in the utility’s network, to their standards. Genius Electric is approved for both SCE’s Charge Ready Home program and PG&E’s Trade Ally Network, so you’re covered either way.
You apply first. Both programs have the homeowner create the account and apply, and the rebate is issued in your name — SCE gives you a Prequalification ID, PG&E sends a pre-approval. We can walk you through that step, but we can't file it for you before you're prequalified. Once you hand us your Prequalification ID, we take over the rest — the permit, the program paperwork, and uploading the documents to claim your rebate.
